Service Sales Executive

Job Description


This position is responsible for selling and managing planned maintenance agreements, repairs, sales, and rentals. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including the following.

  • Prospect, specify, quote and sell to all markets covering Northern California.

  • Increasing sales and service to hospitals, commercial buildings, stores, hotels, residences, government facilities, and any customer with Generator sets, Automatic Transfer Switches, Switchgear, UPS systems, or engines that would require repair, replacement, rental, and/or a maintenance agreement.

  • Work with the Industrial Sales Department to follow up on leads and with customers requiring maintenance agreements.

  • Quote all incoming request for bids, and perform inspections providing unit data that may be required in performing service or repairs.

  • Work with the Service Department on the scheduling of jobs.

  • Represent the Company at trade shows, engineer meetings, building engineer meetings, and other customer meetings.

  • Maintain customer data base and current customer sales call reports.

  • Responsible for maintaining provided tracking sheet for sales goals monitoring including the ability to reconcile commission earned from generated reports from supervisor.

  • Meet annual sales quota for planned maintenance contracts, extended warranties, monitoring systems, repairs, and renewals.

  • Maintain company set labor and parts margin for planned maintenance contract and repair quoting. Ensuring communication and authorization is received from Service Manager or Service Sales Manager should the need to quote below margin expectations.

  • Responsible for following submittal procedures for sold planned maintenance contracts to contracts team.

  • Perform job walks and site walks on quoted and sold maintenance contracts, taking pictures, documenting and communicating detailed information related to the efficient maintenance or repair service.

  • Attends scheduled service territory meetings related to work in process reconciliation and resolution strategies.

  • Participates and takes the lead on dispute resolution on open repairs, unscheduled and/or missed planned maintenance contracts.

  • Participates in accounts receivable dispute resolution.

  • Maintains up to date status of Kohler Learning Academy courses offered related to job duties.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent years’ experience.

  • 3+ years of experience selling service contracts in the standby power generation industry or related field.

  • Knowledge of generators, diesel engines, and mechanical aptitude.

  • Familiar with California regulations knowledge of permit regulations and processes.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, contracts, bid documents, engineering language, and other legal documents.

  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Must be able to pass background and drug test.
