External Communications Coordinator

Job Type: Permanent, FullTime

Salary: £17 - £20/hour

A Multinational Energy Company based in Perth is seeking External Communication Coordinator to join their team on a contract basis for 3 months Contract initially.


Responsible for ensuring that all external stakeholders and customers are well informed about how Business

Energy's transformation programmes will impact them and that they receive the right information at the right time and through the most appropriate channels, in order to build confidence in our brand and enhance customer experience.


Responsible for creating and delivering the external communication strategyBuild, manage and deliver the external comms strategy to ensure that there is a seamless customer experience and joined up external messaging across multiple programmes and projects within the Business Energy change portfolio (including billing system replacement programme, our smart metering programme, Ofgem's faster switching programme and the rollout of digital functionality).

Manage stakeholdersCreate and maintain an accurate stakehlder map for external parties and customers and liase with internal stakeholders to ensure all interested parties are included in the communication plan.

Define the messagingIdentify what needs to be communicated, by when and to whom. Collate third party/ customer change impacts and translate them into what this means for the parties involved.

Arrange customer trialsIdentify the value and which customers to involve in system or process trials, and plan the engagement and communication.

Create the external comms plan and coordinate activity Working with IT and business teams, create and maintain the external communications plan to coordinate the delivery of messages for all programmes into an integrated narrative so customers and third parties know how they will be impacted by change, at the right time.

Manage deliveryWork with marketing and other internal stakeholders to ensure resource is allocated to craft the messages, and provide the right information for them to prepare and deliver the communications. Manage and monitor the activity to ensure that messages are approved and delivered on time.

Measure effectiveness Analyse and assess the effectiveness of external engagement to feed into future plans

Contingency planningIdentify key risks and where there may be a need for contingency messaging, and plan suitable communication

Liaise with programme team on requirements, status, next steps

Identify opportunities to build brand confidence


Knowledge of how to navigate a large organisation
Proven ability to deliver results in a programme environment
Demonstrable experience of creating and delivering complex external customer communications across a varied portfolio of change
Knowledge of and experience in utilities or another regulated industry would be advantageousEssential Functional / Technical Skills

Excellent task management skills, working across multiple projects and programmes
Excellent stakeholder management and management skills
Skilled in preparing presentations and communications
Ability to translate changes to non-technical and non-project management audiences
Ability to work with IT resources such as databases and spreadsheetsPersonal Attributes / Competencies

Systematic and efficient in personal organisation, planning workload and meeting deadlines
Ability to manage at portfolio level, across several work-streams
Ability to think strategically in addition to high level engagement responsibilities with senior business stakeholders
