Press Shop Manager

SALARY: £65000 - £75000/annum

We are currently recruiting for a Press Shop Manager to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Milton Keynes. Reporting to the Group Plant and Production Manager you will be responsible for working alongside all departments and driving productivity to enable the attainment of 85% O.E.E across all press work production by ensuring that all resources are effectively managed.

Main duties will include the following: -

* Ensure all power press resources are effectively managed

* Champion and Drive O.E.E measurement at productivity and improvement targeting 85% average across all presswork production.

* Communicate all improvements in O.E.E needed to Directors and Managers of all departments.

* Provide management information as and when requested regarding production performance, targets, processes, downtime, capacity and planning as directed by the Plant and Production Director.

* Co-ordinate and prioritise activity within the department.

* Review required production schedule, plan and manage production activity to meet requirements.

* Attend relevant meetings and communicate effectively with all departments including Production, Planning, Maintenance and Technical

* Manage supervisors and Team Leaders to motivate and organise team members to ensure parts are efficiently made and are produced on time to the standard required.

* Communicate effectively with suppliers and customers.

* Ensure each press area is maintained to a very high level of Health and Safety and cleanliness. Press 'hold areas’ are properly organised with the 'next tool in’ containers for scrap and components and ancillaries i.e. chutes, shaker trays, tools and equipment, computers, all documentation and cleaning station are all in good order and in their respective places

* Attend and report O.E.E meetings held weekly

* Ensure the department has adequate consumables for service and repair

* Identify staff with the potential to excel and arrange appropriate training in conjunction with the training staff.

* Co-ordinate overtime to meet demands of tooling schedule.

* Work closely with the Plant and Production Director to keep manning to a minimum without compromising production.

* Carry out 6 month performance appraisals/reviews in conjunction with setter training staff, identifying measurable performance objectives and training needs as determined by Training Review Board (TRB) at training review meetings. You will be an active and key member of the TRB.

* Responsible for co-ordinating all resources within the department to ensure quality products are made on time, in the required quantity, at the lowest possible cost, in a manner in keeping with the company’s Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.

* Co-ordinate the production resource within the department, to continuously manufacture quality product to schedule and at the lowest possible cost.

* Ensure good housekeeping and safety working practices are adhered to using the 6S tool.

* Assist the project team to ensure that any new projects/products are successfully launched

* Supervise an effective working relationship with tool room suppliers and subcontractors.

* Carry out annual appraisals.

Skills required and preferred experience:

* Previous managerial experience in a Press Shop with capacity up to 1000 tons making automotive components (Essential).

* Strategic problem solver and have the ability to make key decisions.

* Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods and process improvements that includes but not limited to manufacturing and 6 sigma lean manufacturing.

* Ability to use strong skills in analysing, troubleshooting and evaluating problems

* Excellent MS Office skills.
