We have an exciting opportunity for an Art Camp Leader to join our holiday camp team at Watson's Camps. We're looking for an enthusiastic art tutor or teacher to lead our October Art Camp for pupils aged 9 – 14 with varying abilities.

The camp will be held in the Art Department at George Watson's College from Monday 13 - Friday 17 October and will be for children from the school and the wider community.

Hours of work will be 35 hours per week, 8:30am – 4pm (including a 30 minute unpaid break).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview during the week commencing 22 September 2025. At the interview, you will be asked to present a portfolio of your work, including courses and activities you have designed for young people.



Main Responsibilities:

As Camp Leader, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of an engaging camp program based on a theme of your choice. All resources will be supplied. The camp should be structured around a theme and should introduce new art techniques and skills, culminating in a small exhibition of the children's work at the end of the week.

You will also be responsible for the safety and welfare of all children attending the camp and for leading and motivating the Camp Practitioner and Camp Assistant. You will ensure that all camp and school policies and procedures are followed.


The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory training in health and safety, child protection, and fire safety, with all materials provided in advance.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Art and Design or equivalent, along with a proven background in working with children and in a leadership role.

Teaching experience is preferred but not essential.

A candidate from a teaching background is preferred although not essential.

You should be enthusiastic, highly organised, and motivated to deliver a high-quality learning experience. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are a must.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead future camps as part of our holiday camp development.

Salary: The salary for this position will be in the Grade 3 range of £30,701 - £36,359 (based 36.25 hours, 52 weeks) which equates to £570 - £675 per week (based on a 35 hour week).
