Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Software Engineer who possesses a passion for pushing mobile/web technologies to the limits and will work with our team of talented engineers to design and build the next generation of Insurance applications using modern technologies such as Cloud. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of business applications aimed at revolutionizing the Insurance industry. Your primary focus will be development of business applications in various areas of insurance such as case onboarding, underwriting, risk and pricing using cloud services from providers like Amazon Web Services. You will be working alongside other engineers and developers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.

You will be based out of our Home Office in New York City, which has a typical startup ambience and perks like free coffee, huddle spaces and many other fun events. You will have the best of both worlds, benefits of a large organization and the culture of a young startup.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Mentor other engineers on the team by giving technical guidance and performing code reviews.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with product owners and team members to build industry-leading solutions.
  • Participate as a tech lead in planning the project sprints, tech architecture and development of solutions etc.
  • Design and build the next generation of Insurance applications in the cloud.
  • Research and identify best practices both from an architecture & security perspective.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with team to identify and address problems.
  • Participate on scrum teams working on short sprints and ensure on time delivery with high quality.
  • Create and maintain project documents and artifacts to capture current state.


Basic Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of industry experience as a software engineer/developer.
  • Solid understanding of agile application development methodologies and release management activities.
  • Experience with IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) or PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) implementations will be preferred.
  • Contribute to the team's ability to make and deliver on their commitments.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to both technical and business teams.


Technical Skills

  • Broad knowledge in web-based application development using modern tools and technology.
  • In-depth understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JQuery/JavaScript with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent working experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, task managers (Jenkins, Grunt, Gulp, Bamboo, etc.), and build automation in general.
  • Relevant experience in REST-ful APIs creation.
  • Experience with React.js/Angular.js frameworks.
  • Relevant experience with modern databases like No-SQL etc.
  • Ability to write just enough documentation.
  • Industry experience with Cloud adoption using AWS (Preferred), Google or Azure.
  • In-depth understanding of Amazon Web Services like AWS CloudFormation, AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, AWS DynamoDB, AWS SWF, AWS Cognito, AWS APIGateway etc.
  • Strong Code integration and Code deployment knowledge using tools such as Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy and AWS DataPipeline.
  • Experience using Atlassian tool sets: Jira, Confluence.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development methodology.
  • Experience implementing projects through the QA process.
  • Strong analytical skills and analytical thinking is needed.
  • Amazon Web Services certified candidates would be preferred.
