About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior or Intermediate Estimator to join our civil engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions across a variety of infrastructure and groundworks projects. Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, utilities, and structures.

*

Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive quantities and costs.

*

Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to obtain and review accurate pricing information.

*

Attend pre-tender meetings and conduct site visits when required.

*

Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities in the tender process.

*

Collaborate with planning and operations teams to ensure buildability and efficiency in pricing.

*

Assist in the preparation and presentation of tender adjudications to senior management.

*

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, innovations, and cost trends.

*

Mentor junior team members (for Senior Estimator level).

Requirements:

*

Proven experience as an Estimator in the civil engineering sector (Intermediate: 3-5 years | Senior: 5+ years).

*

Strong understanding of civil engineering methods and principles.

*

Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Candy, Causeway) and MS Excel.

*

Familiar with relevant forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT).

*

Excellent analytical and numerical skills.

*

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

*

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

*

Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree).

Desirable:

*

Experience with major infrastructure, highways, or utilities projects.

*

Chartered status (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) or working towards it.

*

Understanding of BIM and digital estimating tools.
