About the Role

Diamond Search Recruitment is representing a highly experienced Turnaround Manager / Registered Manager to lead the improvement and stabilisation of a 4-bed children’s residential home in Darlaston.

This is a rare opportunity for a Children’s Home Manager with proven Ofsted improvement experience who thrives in turnaround environments and is passionate about driving positive change for children and young people.

The home supports children aged 8–14 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, following PACE and therapeutic parenting approaches to provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment.

The Opportunity

This role focuses on leading the home through improvement, following a recent Ofsted rating of “Requires Improvement”.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Strong leadership and operational skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Standards
  • A child-centred mindset to drive quality improvement and team development

With the home operating at 50% occupancy, there is a significant opportunity to shape the service, strengthen the team, and improve outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the operational turnaround and improvement plan for the home
  • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Quality Standards
  • Provide confident and compassionate leadership to the care team
  • Embed trauma-informed and therapeutic care practices including PACE
  • Ensure the home provides a safe, stable, and nurturing environment
  • Drive quality improvement and prepare for the next Ofsted inspection
  • Manage staffing, recruitment, rotas, and staff development
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, professionals, and families
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding, accountability, and continuous improvement
About You

We are looking for a confident and resilient Children’s Residential Manager who has experience in improving or stabilising children’s homes.

You will have:

  • Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Turnaround Manager in children’s residential care
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Standards
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma, or complex needs
  • A demonstrable track record of improving services or Ofsted outcomes
  • Excellent leadership, team development, and safeguarding skills
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
