Are you a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with a strong background in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join one of our partner schools in LE2 from September for the full academic year, working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

About the Role:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people who face significant barriers to their learning due to emotional or behavioural challenges. Working closely with teaching staff and the SEN team, your focus will be on helping students develop both academically and socially in a supportive, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support students with SEMH needs in the classroom and in small group or 1:1 settings

Implement tailored interventions and strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement

Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their personal and academic development

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and outside agencies where appropriate

Maintain accurate records and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP reviews

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Proven experience working with students with SEMH or significant SEN needs

Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management and trauma-informed approaches

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations

A proactive, flexible approach and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed

Desirable:

Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach, Mental Health First Aid)

Previous experience in a PRU, alternative provision, or specialist setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
