A leading and fast‑expanding manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Design & Development team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with strong knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing methods and complex technical project delivery.

You will take ownership of end‑to‑end design projects, working closely with colleagues across electronics, mechatronics and physics. The position offers the chance to develop innovative products, influence design best practice and contribute to the growth of a forward‑thinking R&D function.

Responsibilities:

• Manage complex design projects from concept to release
• Lead design of large assemblies optimised for manufacture
• Perform mechanical calculations and FEA simulations
• Lead internal and customer‑facing design reviews
• Liaise with internal sales teams and customers
• Produce engineering drawings and BOMs
• Create SOPs for manufacturing and assembly
• Produce technical reports and documentation
• Support Sales, Production and Install teams
• Review design work from team members
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers

Candidate Requirements:

• 7+ years' mechanical design experience
• Engineering degree (mechanical/design engineering or similar)
• Full design lifecycle experience
• Strong 3D CAD skills (Inventor or SolidWorks ideal)
• Experienced in design for manufacture (sheet metal/machining beneficial)
• Skilled in calculations and FEA
• Strong GD&T knowledge
• ECR/change management experience
• Tolerance analysis background
• ERP/MRP system experience
• Good standard of IT skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
