SANZA Teaching Agency are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to work 1:1 with a boy in year 6 who has a diagnosis of Autism, as well as SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs.

This is a great opportunity to support a young boy in his final year of primary school, and prepare him for his successful transition to secondary school in the following year. This will be a truly rewarding role, so don't miss out!

About the school: The school is located in the London Borough of Newham, with excellent transport links (buses & tubes), as well as having on site parking. It is a large, bustling primary school with a great community feel.

As a teaching assistant in this role, you will need to:

Understand and share the child's feelings without judgement
Show genuine care and concern for their well being
Be calm and composed, especially when progress is slow or behaviour is challenging
Use clear, age-appropriate language
Build trust through honesty and respect
Stay calm and professional in emotionally difficult situations
Be alert to signs of neglect, abuse, or distress
Adjust approaches based on the child's needs, mood, or circumstances
Work effectively within changing routines or unexpected situations
Reinforce the child's strengths and progress
Help boost their confidence and self-esteem
