1:1 Learning Support Assistant- Independent School

Location: London

Contract: 1 year fixed term contract

We are looking to recruit an exceptional Learning Support Assistant, ideally with SEN experience, for an Independent School in London for a full time, one year fixed term contract. The Learning Support Assistant will be reporting to the SENCO and this is a rare opportunity to join an independent school which is centrally based and well resourced.

The school is a well-regarded Independent Senior School and the Learning Support Assistant will be supporting pupils 1:1 aged 11-18. The school is at the forefront of education and has dynamic and forward-thinking staff who are provided with all the support they need to ensure a first rate education for their pupils. The school is a flagship member of a wider group of and leads the way in cutting edge educational provision.

Starting in September 2019, the school are looking for a Learning Support Assistant, who will be working 1:1 to provide support to pupil. The Learning Support Assistant will be supporting a pupil specifically to stay engaged and on track in lessons and encourage participation. The Learning Support Assistant will be warm and also have an appreciation of working within an educational establishment.

The Learning Support Assistant may appeal to someone who has been trained or is training to be a teacher/SEN teacher. The successful Learning Support Assistant candidate may have some additional duties in helping a few other pupils who have additional needs. This role is to work 1:1 in a Learning Support Assistant capacity.

Graduates interested to work with pupils with SEN needs will also be considered. The Learning Support Assistant post would suit someone who has some experience working within education and would like to add to this, working in a successful and well-regarded school with a view to gaining more responsibility and/or training to become a classroom teacher or SEN support. The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills to engage young people in learning, be a fun and dynamic character and an articulate in a supportive and professional manner.

Essential Criteria;

* Qualifications in Maths English - grade C or above

* Working in existing Learning Support Assistant, or with experience of supporting pupils 11-18 year of age

* Ability to write and speak clearly

* Have ICT skills to support pupils' learning

* Ability to relate well to pupils11 -18 years of age
