Working in the Commission's Legal Directorate, you will be part of the team engaged in ensuring the Commission meets its statutory requirements under the Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
Your new role
This is a temporary data protection role starting from January 2021 to the end of March 2021. You will primarily handle and respond to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations. In addition, you will also handle Individual Rights Requests and ensure complaints about the Commission are dealt with effectively and in line with procedures and guidance.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have working knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and the ability to apply sections of legislation or guidance to real world scenarios. You must have a strong understanding of data protection law and experience in managing your own caseload. As this is a remote working role, you must be set up to work from home with appropriate space and a good Wi-Fi connection.
What you'll get in return
This is temporary contract role for 2-3 months with an hourly rate of c£16 per hour. You will be home based and work remotely alongside the Data Protection Officer, Corporate Lawyer and other Information Governance specialists. Flexible working options are available and the standard working week is 36 hours per week.
