Our client are seeking a motivated Assistant Transport Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our logistics operations, support our growing team of up to 10 drivers, and optimise delivery processes for exceptional customer service. Personal Attributes & Essential Experience:

  • Supervisory experience ideally within logistics or transport operations
  • Strong knowledge of driving hours and vehicle regulations
  • Experience with route planning throughout the UK
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the UK Road Network
  • Experience working with third-party logistics providers (Parcelforce, DHL, etc.) and international shipping
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of all levels, from Drivers to Customers
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
  • IT proficient, particularly within MS Excel
  • Own transport and a full UK driving licence is required due to our rural location

Responsibilities & Duties:

  1. Manage, mentor and develop our growing team of delivery drivers
  2. Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, driver hours, and company safety policies
  3. Plan and optimise delivery routes for maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction
  4. Schedule deliveries and coordinate with production and customer service teams
  5. Monitor and control delivery costs, fuel expenses, and vehicle maintenance budgets
  6. Manage relationships and negotiate with shipping partners including Parcelforce and DHL
  7. Oversee international shipping operations to the US, EU and worldwide markets
  8. Handle escalated customer delivery issues and complaints
  9. Maintain accurate records and produce regular management reports
  10. Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and properly maintained
  11. Oversee driver recruitment and induction processes

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday (flexibility required for operational needs)
