Project Planner – Rail (Inside IR35)

£300 – £450/day (All In)

Location: Leeds (3 days/week) Hybrid

Start: ASAP | End Date: 28 August 2026 (with possible extension)

A contract opportunity has opened for an experienced Project Planner to support the delivery of a major rail infrastructure programme. The role is offered on an inside IR35 basis, with a maximum rate of £450 per day, and an expected duration of at least one year, extending to August 2026, with further extension possible subject to client approval.

• Start Date: Immediate
• Location: 3 days per week in Leeds; hybrid working for the remainder. Occasional travel may be required to York, Manchester, and other regional sites
• Interview Process: Two stages – initial discussion with consultancy team, followed by interview with end client

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Eligibility to work in the UK – this role does not offer visa sponsorship
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in project/programme planning using recognised planning software
• Proven experience working on major UK rail infrastructure programmes
• Ability to integrate multiple contractor schedules into programme-level schedules
• Strong working knowledge of NEC4 contractual schedule requirements
• Experience working with Primavera P6 and managing schedules within a Loadspring environment, including setting and managing user privileges
• Familiarity with schedule assurance processes, schedule strategies and planning standards
• Understanding of technical engineering, construction, and access disciplines
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively across project teams
• Graduate-level education or equivalent professional experience
• Ability to make pragmatic planning decisions and assess schedule implications effectively
• Competent in IT systems; knowledge of Power BI preferred

• Demonstrated leadership or team motivation capabilities
• Flexibility to travel and stay away from home when required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective visual communication of schedules – Visio experience beneficial
• Presentation skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement
