Quality Inspector

Location: Walsall
Salary: £16.00 - £18.00 per hour (DOE)
Hours: 38 hours per week

Shift Pattern:

Monday to Thursday: 7:54am - 4:30pm
Friday: 7:54am - 1:30pm

The Opportunity

Workforce are currently working with a leading UK engineering manufacturer who design and produce high-integrity, precision-engineered components supplied into heavily regulated and safety-critical industries including energy, power generation, and heavy engineering sectors.

This is a key quality position within a well-established manufacturing environment, where standards are exceptionally high and attention to detail is critical at every stage of production.

As a Quality Inspector, you will play a vital role in safeguarding product integrity, ensuring compliance with exact engineering specifications, and working closely with production teams to maintain world-class quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants genuine responsibility, exposure to precision engineering, and the chance to develop into a highly skilled inspection professional within a structured and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Lead Inspector and acting as a key point of quality control on the shop floor
Carrying out first-off, in-process, and final inspections on machined and fabricated components
Performing detailed dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment
Completing ovalty, thickness, and coating/paint thickness checks in line with engineering requirements
Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to ensure full compliance
Supporting Goods Inwards inspection, ensuring incoming materials meet strict standards before release into production
Recording and maintaining accurate inspection reports and quality documentation
Working closely with production teams to identify root causes of quality issues and drive corrective action
Exercising the authority to halt production when non-conformances are identified
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining a strong culture of quality across the site

Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a quality inspection, machining, fabrication, or engineering environment
Strong understanding of dimensional inspection techniques and engineering drawings
Confident using precision measuring tools such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges
Exposure to CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) highly advantageous
Strong attention to detail with a methodical and disciplined approach
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining extremely high standards
