Maintenance Engineer - Food

Salary: Up to £39,500 basic (approx. £45k OTE)
Hours: Mon-Fri, 6:00am-3:00/4:30pm (regular overtime available)
Holidays: 25 days including bank holidays
Overtime: 1.25x weekdays, 1.5x Saturdays
Pension: 3/5%
Contracted Hours: 40 hrs/week (average +6 hrs overtime)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced Food operation. You will support both reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring the smooth operation of critical machinery.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring solid mechanical and electrical competence, with routine exposure to hydraulics and pneumatics and occasional PLC fault finding.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out reactive and planned maintenance on production equipment

Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Operate following strict H&S procedures

Undertake basic PLC fault finding (Allen Bradley & Mitsubishi-rarely required)

Ensure equipment uptime and efficient production flow

Complete maintenance documentation and support continuous improvement

Skills & Qualifications

18th Edition (essential)

Strong mechanical/electrical skills

Experience in Food or FMCG environments preferred

Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Training & Progression

Refresher training provided (must have core skills already)
