Join a global leader in electrical installations and smart home technology. Our client is shaping the future of electrical distribution and automation, and we're looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to play a key role in our product development team.

About the Role:

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, integration, and optimisation of products and systems across our electrical distribution and wiring accessory ranges. Working in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment, you'll apply best-in-class design methodologies to develop high-performance, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

Electrical Design Responsibilities:

  • Apply Design for Excellence (DfX) methodologies across product development.
  • Lead Electrical device integration and system-level design, ensuring robust performance and compliance.
  • Design and develop sheet metal and plastic components, with an emphasis on manufacturability and durability.
  • Develop and validate enclosed electrical busbar systems, understanding current carrying capacity, short circuit ratings, and thermal dissipation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards including IEC 61439, IEC 62208, and relevant British Standards.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including Product Management, Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and product certification processes.

About You:

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical, Mechanical, or Product Design Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in electrical product/system design, ideally within power distribution or wiring accessories.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of thermal management, current flow, and short-circuit performance in electrical systems.
  • Knowledgeable in international and British standards relevant to low-voltage switchgear and controls.
  • Creative, methodical, and solutions-focused with strong communication and collaboration skills.
