Main Duties and Responsibilities: Task manage and prioritise the IT Services team’s workload.
To support the IT Manager to ensure the IT Services team deliver a high level of customer support through a proactive approach using own initiative, knowledge and experience.
Develop, coordinate and promote the effective functioning of the IT services to support teaching, learning and business functions.
In consultation with the IT Manager, examine potential areas for service improvement and develop an action plan to achieve this.
Communicate with college departments to troubleshoot and resolve IT infrastructure problems.
Ensure there are robust procedures and processes in place to maintain IT services for the College.
Provide timely advice on emerging trends and issues affecting service delivery and support.
Work with the IT Manager to ensure smooth delivery of planned infrastructure projects.
Technical Responsibilities To maintain, configure, and administer the College IT provision including Windows 10, Mac OSX, desktop and application deployment, Chromebooks, mobile devices, BYOD; troubleshooting hardware and software problems as required.
To be responsible for the creation and deployment of Images using Windows Deployment Services (WDS).
To contribute to the creation of applications via ZENworks and their secure delivery to clients.
To design and develop methodologies for the upgrade of desktop operating systems across the site.
Contribute to the administration and configuration of Google G Suite for Education as well as the deployment and management of Chromebooks.
Evaluate software and hardware for functionality, appropriateness and compatibility with the College infrastructure.
Configure, monitor and maintain network infrastructure including switching, routing, VLANs and DHCP services.
To be responsible for the management and configuration of the college phone system.
To assist with the configuration, administration and maintenance of the college Aruba wireless network including authentication, authorisation and accounting.
Manage, configure and administer portable IT systems that are attached to the College network maintaining an effective standard of operation.
To contribute towards the maintenance and management of Linux (SLES/OES), VMWare, and Windows server operating systems in terms of hardware, operation, authentication, connectivity, backup and security.
To contribute towards the operation, configuration and maintenance of the college internet connection, firewall and the content filtering and system.
To liaise with external organisations such as hardware and software vendors, support companies and other educational institutions regarding the operations and maintenance of server, desktop and mobile systems.
Contribute towards the development and maintenance of IT system recovery processes to minimise the risk and impact of serious disaster and threats to continuity (including management of the appropriate backup regime and virus protection).
Contribute towards the electrical safety testing of IT and related equipment.
Contribute towards the IT Helpdesk support for all users of College IT resources.
Contribute to the management of examinations where these involve the use of IT resources.
