Exciting opportunity for a Controls Engineer in OH, TN or Michigan.

Travel: If you live near Beaverton, MI, there is no travel requirement.
If you live in Ohio or TN, travel for the 1st 12 months would be 50% for familiarity with machines/onboarding. After that, travel would be 15% of the role.
Direct Hire with a salary range of $80k-$100k.

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, updating, and troubleshooting various PLC based control systems. They are responsible for electrical/controls design modifications to standard equipment and new equipment design. We have a distributed team of engineers that collaborate on thermoforming packaging solutions. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, can work in a team environment, has the ability to plan, schedule and problem solve effectively, and can work independently with little or no supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Make necessary electrical panel layout drawings, electrical designs, and electrical CAD schematics to ensure design meets industry and regulatory standards and project requirements.
  2. Make appropriate calculations, research performance standards and component selection to ensure design specifications are met.
  3. Design various sections of equipment to meet required specifications.
  4. Prepare bills of material and other paperwork per internal standards.
  5. Attend and participate in design reviews for evaluation of work order requirements to design, and cost implications.
  6. Design and develop machine logic in PLC, operator interface applications and program servo motion controls.
  7. Change drawings in accordance with ECO procedure.
  8. Check drawings and bills of materials as relates to assigned projects.
  9. Ensure design considerations, concepts, and software codes are documented.
  10. Represent design team in work order reviews and final design reviews as required.
  11. Start-up and debug machine prior to shipment.
  12. Assists in field start-up and solving machine problems in field.
EDUCATION / REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a minimum of 2 years work experience in electrical design or a technical role
  2. Two years’ experience leading electrical design projects and has control programming exp
  3. Working knowledge of controls (PLC, HMI, and Motion Controlled Programs)
  4. Working knowledge of electrical engineering design practices
