We are recruiting for a Senior Research and Policy Advisor to play a key role within our International Development Policy and Practice team. ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want. The International Development Policy and Practice team is a key delivery partner in ActionAid UK’s new strategy to promote a world where women and girls are valued, live free from violence, and can exercise their rights to promote their own economic justice, safety, equality and voice. We are now recruiting for a Senior Research and Policy Advisor, which is a key role within this team. This role will support the roll-out of a new policy identity and a feminist research strategy which is aligned to ActionAid UK’s strategic objectives. The Senior Research and Policy Advisor will create policy and research products, which have been informed by ActionAid’s programmatic and policy work on women and girls’ rights, therefore applicants must have the ability and flexibility to learn and promote new policy issues as required. The post holder will develop and update policy work and will work with other teams and programmes to refresh, identify, prioritise and promote policy issues. Proven experience of providing policy input and strategic analysis to joint policy and advocacy initiatives is a must. To succeed in this role, you must also have proven experience of networking and contact building in academic, policy and NGO settings. You must have an excellent knowledge of aid spending and development, a strong understanding of power relations which shape relations between the global North and South and substantive knowledge of women’s rights. We are keen to receive applications from those with proven research skills and experience, excellent writing skills and the ability to translate complex material and data into clear and concise materials appropriate for the intended audience. Applicants must have substantial experience of policy analysis and commissioning and conducting research on relevant issues gained in a public policy, NGO or academic environment. Experience in shaping, winning and delivering large multi-country, institutionally funded research projects is highly desirable.
