Financial Manager

Job Description



Oversee operations of the general accounting area and assure integrity of financial and compliance reporting. Assist the Accounting Manager in insuring that proper controls are established to safeguard the assets of the corporation.


  • Spearhead timely submission and compliance of the Department deliverables in connection with the managed care carved-in benefits project implementations 

  • Provide direction to other Departments and business owners to improve month-end financial close and reporting process.

  • Ensure the timely implementation of new accounting standards.

  • Prepare the Medicaid premium analysis work paper which includes all relevant information on premium rates, pass thru, among others

  • Maintain the rate sheets and ensures that revenue is reported at the correct  MCO rates as reported in the Schedule B

  • Responsible for filing annual Medical Loss Ratio filings for Medicaid and HARP.

  • Assist actuary in annual CHIP rate filing to ensure timely filing.

  • Prepare timely monthly account reconciliations

  • Review and approve all government program related entries into the general ledger.

  • Prepare financial data for and interact with outside auditors in preparation for the year-end audit of the corporation's financial transactions.

  • Assist the Accounting Manager in maintaining timely and accurate cash flow analysis and projections.

  • Develop and maintain formal written policy and procedures for the monthly financial statements.

  • Develop closing procedures including a schedule of due dates for monthly financial statement closings.


  • B. S. in Accounting or related field.

  • Between 5-8 years accounting experience in health care

  • Extensive knowledge of computerized accounting systems and business software

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation.

  • Special  interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain constructive and collaborative relationships that support the sharing of information.

  • Ability to work and think independently, and to exercise independent judgment guided by policies, goals and objectives.

  • Ability to effectively organize, manage, and perform multi-dimensional projects and work assignments.

  • Highly developed organizational, problem solving and prioritization skills as demonstrated by the successful and timely completion of assignments.

  • Advanced level proficiency with Word and Excel and accounting systems

  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex analysis and identify solutions to resolve specific business issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
