Location: Ealing, West London (W5 2HL), Hybrid Working - 3 days office / 2 days remote

Hourly rate £23.05 PAYE / £30.09 Umbrella per hour

Contract Length: 3 -month contract (possibility of extension)

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 35 hours

We are looking for a dedicated Welfare Benefits Support Officer to join our Benefits & Local Welfare Assistance team. This is an exciting opportunity to support residents across the borough who are unemployed, in low‑paid work, or facing financial challenges. Your work will directly improve people's lives by helping them access employment pathways, training opportunities, and the welfare support they need.

About the Role

As a Welfare Benefits Support Officer, you'll provide information, advice and guidance (IAG) to help residents overcome barriers to employment, improve financial resilience, and navigate welfare benefits. You will:

Deliver personalised employment support and create individual action plans.
Run work clubs and training sessions across the borough.
Provide comprehensive welfare benefits advice and help customers manage personal budgeting and debt.
Support residents in opening bank accounts and understanding financial options.
Build strong partnerships with employers, Jobcentre Plus, training providers, and internal council departments.
Design and deliver group workshops to enhance employability skills.
Identify and address barriers to work, referring customers to relevant support services.
Maintain accurate records, track progress, and produce reports.
Contribute to safeguarding responsibilities and uphold the council's values.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

Experience delivering Information, Advice & Guidance, particularly for unemployed individuals or those with additional needs.
Strong knowledge of welfare benefits, welfare reform, and how financial circumstances impact employment.
Ability to assess learning needs and create tailored support plans.
Confident communicator with excellent literacy, numeracy, and report‑writing skills.
Experience delivering training sessions and maintaining detailed progress records.
Ability to work collaboratively with partners and independently when required.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a busy environment.
Experience using IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and health & safety awareness.
Coaching/mentoring experience or capacity to develop these skills.Qualifications

Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) qualification (desirable).
