School Caretaker - Chester (Long-Term Sickness Cover)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Minimum 3 months
Hours: 1:30pm - 6:00pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £16.25 - £17.50 per hour

Are you an experienced, reliable and proactive caretaker looking for a new opportunity? A welcoming and well-resourced school in Chester is seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join their team on a long-term sickness cover basis.

You will play a key part in ensuring the school environment is safe, clean and well-maintained. Duties will include:

• Supporting with general maintenance and minor repairs

• Ensuring the site is secure and prepared for the following school day

• Managing cleaning standards and supporting cleaning staff where needed

• Conducting routine health & safety checks

• Responding to any onsite issues or emergencies

• Has previous caretaking or site management experience (school experience desirable)

• Is confident in basic maintenance tasks

• Can work independently and manage their time effectively

• Takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
