Paraplanner (HNW / UHNW Support)

Role Overview

As a Paraplanner, you will provide high-level technical and analytical support to Financial Advisers serving High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients. Your role is pivotal in delivering well-researched financial strategies, analysing portfolios, investments, and client needs, producing suitability documents, supporting meeting preparations, and managing ongoing plan maintenance.

You will also act as a trusted technical resource for advisers, ensuring compliance, precision, and tailored, holistic advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report Preparation & Financial Modelling: Research investment options, pensions, tax, and estate strategies; build cash-flow models, projections, and detailed suitability reports for HNW/UHNW clients.
  • Client File Management & Compliance: Maintain meticulous client documentation, ensure file compliance, track asset transfers, and tax reporting for high-value relationships.
  • Meeting Support: Support meeting preparation, manage client files, and assist client adviser sessions by providing notes and follow-up action items.
  • Plan Updates & Reviews: Update existing plans annually or with life changes, recalibrate strategy, and generate ongoing review materials.
  • Technical Research & Advice: Provide in-depth research on complex financial planning questions and legislative developments; serve as a technical sounding board for advisers.
  • Implementation Support: Oversee application processing for funds, pensions, taxation structures, and other product placements.
  • Risk & Opportunity Identification: Proactively highlight planning gaps and recommend strategic enhancements aligned with clients’ objectives.
  • Client Liaison: Occasionally serve as the first technical point of contact, handling straightforward queries to free advisers for client acquisition.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma level 4 (CII) or working toward Chartered Financial Planner (CFP) status.
  • Proven paraplanning experience in a financial planning role, ideally with HNW/UHNW exposure.
  • Strong technical knowledge in pensions, investments, tax, estate/inheritance planning, and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Proficiency in financial planning software and Microsoft Office (Excel essential).

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into clear, client-ready documents.
  • Strong organisational skills; capable of managing multiple plans, workflows, and deadlines.
  • High ethical standards, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Initiative-driven, with the ability to work autonomously and within adviser teams.
  • Collaborative mindset to support advisers and broader administrative teams.

Desirable Attributes

  • Career ambition to progress toward Chartered status.
  • Familiarity with advanced HNW/UHNW products: Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs), Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS), trusts, and international investments.

Why Join Our Client

  • Opportunity to work with UHNW individuals and families on complex, bespoke financial challenges.
  • Be part of an ambitious, growth-focused advisory team with strong in-house support and professional development.
  • Clear progression path toward senior paraplanner or adviser roles, with chartered qualification funding and mentorship.
