Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (mandatory).
  • A degree in English Literature, Language, or a closely related field.
  • An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Strong communication skills and a deep knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and GCSE assessment criteria.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver high-quality English Language and Literature lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Foster a love for reading through engaging, modern classroom discussions.
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations with proven pedagogical strategies.
  • Design inclusive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs and SEND requirements.
  • Provide constructive, timely feedback to help students bridge the gap in their learning.
  • Collaborate with the department to develop innovative curriculum resources.
  • Maintain a positive, firm, and fair classroom environment using proactive behaviour management.
  • Engage with parents and guardians during scheduled progress evenings.
  • Participate in extracurricular literacy clubs or school-wide performance events.
