Job Title: Science Technician

Salary: £95 - £120 per day (dependent on experience)

TeacherActive is working in partnership with secondary schools in Swindon and the surrounding areas to appoint a reliable and skilled Science Technician for a long-term maternity cover, starting February 2026.

This role offers continuity, stability, and the opportunity to become an integral part of a school department for the duration of the cover.

This role will involve:

Preparing laboratory equipment, chemicals, and resources for practical science lessons

Supporting teachers and students during Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practical experiments

Ensuring science laboratories are clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations

Managing stock levels of equipment and chemicals, including ordering supplies where required

Safely storing chemicals and maintaining accurate COSHH records

Assisting with risk assessments and ensuring safe working practices within the laboratory

This role is ideal if you:

Have previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment

Have a strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and COSHH regulations

Are organised, reliable, and able to commit to a long-term placement

Have good practical skills and attention to detail

Are comfortable working within a secondary school environment
