Transport Planner

Location: Sunbury

Salary: Up to £36,590

Hours: Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 7:00pm (Office based)

CTR Select are recruiting for a Transport Planner to join our client based in Sunbury. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy logistics operation where you will be responsible for co-ordinating efficient, compliant and cost effective transport activities across depots and delivery networks.

You will play a key role in ensuring high service levels, operational efficiency and transport compliance, while promoting safe working practices and maintaining strong relationships with drivers, customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and optimise vehicle routes for daily collections and deliveries
  • Ensure all customer delivery requirements are met efficiently
  • Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding transport operations
  • Coordinate fleet vehicles and subcontractors to deliver cost-effective transport solutions
  • Manage drivers on a daily basis, including driver debriefs
  • Continuously review transport operations to improve efficiency and performance
  • Support management of transport suppliers, subcontractors, agencies and fuel providers
  • Assist with driver training programmes, including Driver CPC requirements
  • Support driver, vehicle and trailer compliance checks
  • Help manage in-cab technology and fleet systems
  • Provide out-of-hours support for customers and drivers when required
  • Assist with fleet management and Health & Safety compliance
  • Provide flexibility to support shift cover, holidays and occasional weekend requirements
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a Transport Planner or Transport Coordinator role
  • O-Licence knowledge or experience (essential)
  • Understanding of the Working Time Directive and driver compliance systems
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office (Excel and Word)
  • Excellent organisation and multitasking ability
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with drivers, management and suppliers
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing operational demands
