Overview
Our client is seeking a highly organised and reliable Accounts & Administration Assistant to support their Management Accountant and wider office team. This is a varied position ideal for someone who enjoys combining finance work with customer service and general administration in a busy, professional environment.
You will be responsible for supporting the processing of financial transactions (invoices, banking, reconciliations, credit control, payment runs, stock takes) alongside managing an email inbox and telephone queries relating to customer orders, documentation requests and general enquiries.
The role would suit someone who is adaptable, team-focused and enthusiastic, with a positive approach and a willingness to support colleagues where needed.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance Support
- Process purchase invoices accurately and promptly
- Post receipts and payments to the cash book
- Complete regular bank reconciliations
- Respond to supplier queries
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile the debtor's ledger and investigate anomalies
- Produce credit control reports and liaise with the sales team
- Prepare payment runs and initiate payments via online banking
- Assist with periodic stock takes and inventory checks
Customer Service & Administration
- Answer incoming calls and take or redirect messages as needed
- Manage the customer service inbox and allocate emails appropriately
- Investigate delivery queries and provide updates
- Respond to requests for documentation
- Provide general administrative support across the office
Qualifications
- Good GCSE results in Maths and English
- Ideally working towards or already holding AAT Level 3 or above
- Interest in progressing within an accounts/finance role
Skills & Attributes
- Highly numerate with strong attention to detail
- Accurate and confident written communication
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of finance
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Effective communicator with suppliers and customers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems (Sage 200 is advantageous but not essential)
- Logical, thorough and diligent
- Able to work accurately at pace
