SEMH Support Assistant - Blythe Bridge - Immediate Start
Ideal for psychology graduates, care workers, youth mentors, or anyone with a passion for supporting vulnerable young people

Are you looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience—either through work or study—supporting individuals with emotional, behavioural, or additional needs?

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist school in Blythe Bridge and are looking for a compassionate and committed individual to join them as a full-time SEMH Support Assistant. You don't need to have worked in a school before—what matters is your ability to build relationships, stay calm under pressure, and offer consistent, positive support.

About the Role:

You'll work closely with students aged 11-16 who face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Many have additional needs such as ADHD, autism (ASD), or behavioural difficulties.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

Supporting students in the classroom, either 1:1 or in small groups

Helping young people manage their emotions and behaviour

Using your empathy and resilience to build trust and consistency

Encouraging progress in learning, confidence, and social skills

Working closely with teachers and therapists to support individual plans

Providing personal care when needed (training provided)

Who This Role Is Ideal For:

Psychology, criminology, or education graduates looking for hands-on experience

Care workers, residential support workers, or healthcare assistants

Youth workers or sports/activity leaders

People with lived experience of SEN, mental health, or behaviour support

Anyone with a calm and caring nature, looking for a rewarding role

What You'll Need:

Experience working or volunteering with children, young people, or vulnerable adults

A resilient and compassionate attitude

Confidence in handling challenging behaviour (training and support provided)

A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
