Behaviour & Welfare Officer

Support pupils. Engage families. Drive real change.

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Behaviour & Welfare Officer to join a supportive school team in SE26. This is a key role focused on helping pupils—especially the most vulnerable—overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Location: Lewisham

Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience.

Contract: Full-time, long-term

The Role

Working closely with the Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion/Pastoral), you will play a vital role in supporting pupils, families and staff by:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group mentoring to support behaviour, wellbeing and progress
  • Building positive relationships with parents, carers and families, providing guidance and support
  • Leading on attendance and punctuality, monitoring data and implementing improvement strategies
  • Supporting behaviour management using restorative approaches
  • Acting as a key link between the school and external agencies (e.g. social care, health services)
  • Delivering family support initiatives, workshops and engagement activities
  • Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records and reports
  • Supporting safeguarding and contributing to the school’s inclusive and safe environment

About You

  • Experience working within a school or education setting
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, attendance and behaviour strategies
  • Experience supporting pupils and families with additional needs
  • Confident liaising with external agencies and professionals
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
  • A resilient, proactive and solution-focused approach
