Based at BCP Council Civic Centre

We are looking for an experienced Tribunals / DR Manager.

• Manage a Team of 3 Tribunal and Mediations Officers- approx. 100 live appeals in total

• Prepare for and respond to appeals related to Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plan decisions.

• Prepare detailed written responses, case statements, and legal submissions.

• Represent the local authority at Tribunal hearings and mediation meetings.

• Provide expert advice on SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.

• Collaborate with families, schools, and professionals to resolve disputes before Tribunal.

• Liaise with Legal Services and external legal support on complex appeals.

• Support continuous service improvement based on Tribunal outcomes.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven track record in successfully managing a Team of Tribunals and Mediation Officers and a similar number of live Tribunals

• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation (Children and Families Act 2014) and the SEND Code of Practice (0-25).

• Experience managing SEND Tribunal cases, including bundle preparation and mediation.

• Strong understanding of case management and statutory responsibilities within SEND.
