Our client, Leicester City Council, is seeking an agency Social Worker for its Fostering service.

This is a Supervising Social Work role, lasting 3 months initially and paid at £36 - £38 per hour.

The role will involve the following:

• Supervising mainstream and kinship carers
• Regular face to face home visits to fostering households
• Building trusting relationships with foster carers to enable constructive challenge, reflective conversations and to increase their confidence to seek support, guidance and advice.
• Supporting carers to access training and learning and to continue the development of their skills and knowledge.
• Carry-out assessments around child-centred matching and liaison with the Child in Need and/or Looked After Children’s Teams.
• Attendance at meetings in respect of the child – LAC Review, PEP, etc.
• Recording of work undertaken including analysis – using a Signs of Safety, strengths-based approach.
• Report writing and presentation of information at a variety of forums – Annual Reviews, Panel, Court.
• Participation in Team and Service Development and sharing ideas, experience and knowledge with others.
• Maximum caseload is 22, but average is currently 18
• Hybrid working does have the requirement of attending some face-to-face meetings at Halford House and other City venues - the more mandatory meetings are approx. once a fortnight as a guide. Hybrid working using office base in City centre, local venues such as Children's Centres and home-based working.

Requirements of the role:

• Qualified Social Worker
• Fully Social Work England registered
• 3 years post-qualified experience in employment of a local authority (DFE rules)
• Must have Fostering experience and an understanding of the role of SSW
• Experience of working with Looked After Children who have experienced trauma, loss and abuse.
