An established UK manufacturer, renowned for supplying high-integrity components into critical sectors such as aerospace, defence, nuclear, marine, rail, and petrochemical, is seeking a technically minded Estimating Engineer to join their commercial and technical team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced estimator or manufacturing professional who thrives on technical problem-solving, commercial engagement, and seeing projects through from initial enquiry to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and interpret customer enquiries to assess technical feasibility and alignment with business capabilities.

Develop efficient manufacturing routes, incorporating both in-house and subcontract operations.

Analyse technical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with industry and customer standards.

Generate accurate quotations by calculating costs, material requirements, and subcontract prices.

Lead feasibility meetings with cross-functional teams to align on manufacturing approach.

Liaise with customers and subcontractors to manage expectations, resolve issues, and ensure project timelines are met.

Support continuous improvement efforts, including layout optimisation, supplier management, and quality system updates.

Use CAD to enhance quote accuracy and improve customer communication.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Experience in technical estimating, manufacturing engineering, or project costing within a heavy or precision engineering environment.

Strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing methods, and materials.

Commercial awareness and confidence in engaging with customers and suppliers.

Familiarity with sectors such as aerospace, defence, marine, or energy is beneficial.

Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001) is desirable.

Proficiency in CAD is a plus.
