What you'll be doing

Join the UK Parliament's House of Commons as a Publishing Manager within the Parliamentary Publishing Unit (PPU), where you will play a key role in delivering the official record of parliamentary debate. Working alongside the Publishing Lead (Operations), you will provide both managerial and technical oversight to a team of Deputy Managers and Publishers, ensuring the timely production of Hansard publications for both Houses.

In this role, you will help oversee the complex publishing workflow that transforms XML content from Hansard editors into official publications such as Commons and Lords daily parts and Public Bill Committee sittings. You will ensure the overnight, no-fail publication of these essential parliamentary records while also monitoring correction processes and collaborating with technical teams to maintain the publishing systems that support Parliament's work.

Leading a team of five staff, you will build strong relationships across Hansard teams, parliamentary offices, and digital service partners, contributing to the accurate and reliable publication of parliamentary proceedings.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in using XML-based publishing and document management systems
  • Some experience of working shifts and managing teams in a no-fail environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, inclusively
  • Experience in managing a small team and handling sensitive and confidential matters
  • Ability to create and deliver training on publishing systems to a varied audience
