Attendance Officer - SEMH School | Tooting, Southwest London

Prospero Teaching is recruiting an Attendance Officer to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Tooting, Southwest London. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting pupil attendance and engagement across the school.

Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the School

This specialist SEMH school supports boys aged 5-19 with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school provides a therapeutic, supportive, and structured environment, tailored to help pupils re-engage with learning.

Responsibilities

Monitor and track student attendance data daily
Follow up on absences through calls, emails, and home visits where necessary
Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to improve attendance
Maintain accurate records and produce regular attendance reports
Support safeguarding procedures in relation to student absence

What We're Looking For

Experience in school administration, attendance, or pastoral roles
Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
Calm, confident, and empathetic approach - especially in challenging situations
Experience working in SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative education settings is highly desirable

Essential Requirements

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (Child & Adult Workforce)
