ADR Experience Required

Our client is seeking a highly organised and experienced Transport Manager to oversee transport operations at their Okehampton site. This is a key role ensuring compliance, efficiency, and high safety standards across the fleet — with particular responsibility for ADR-regulated activities.

Key Responsibilities

Transport Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the transport function.
  • Plan routes, schedules, and resources for maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure all deliveries are completed on time and to customer standards.

Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain full compliance with DVSA, O-Licence requirements and ADR regulations.
  • Ensure vehicle checks, defect reporting, and maintenance schedules are adhered to.
  • Keep clear records for audits and compliance inspections.

People Management

  • Lead, support and develop drivers and transport staff.
  • Conduct driver briefings, debriefs, performance reviews and training.
  • Manage driver hours in line with Working Time Directive and tachograph laws.

ADR Responsibilities

  • Oversee safe handling, storage, loading and transport of ADR goods.
  • Ensure drivers follow ADR procedures and have correct certification.
  • Liaise with external bodies where required regarding hazardous materials.

Liaison & Communication

  • Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
  • Resolve transport issues quickly and professionally.
  • Support continuous improvement across operations.

About You – Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Transport Manager (essential).
  • Strong working knowledge of ADR regulations.
  • Excellent understanding of transport legislation and compliance.
  • CPC qualification (essential or working towards).
  • Strong leadership, planning and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
