About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and caring Passenger Assistant to join our transport team in Huddersfield. This full-time, Grade 5 role involves supporting children with special educational needs and day care clients during their journeys to and from school or care centres. You’ll play a key part in ensuring passengers travel safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

As a Passenger Assistant, you’ll work closely with drivers, parents, schools, and care providers to deliver a reliable and compassionate transport service. You’ll be responsible for assisting passengers with mobility challenges, administering emergency medication when needed, and maintaining a calm and supportive environment during transit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of passengers throughout their journey.
  • Assist with boarding, seating, and disembarking, including the use of ramps, lifts, and safety restraints.
  • Respond to medical needs, including administering first aid or emergency medication.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and school/day care staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding standards.
  • Support the driver in monitoring vehicle safety and cleanliness.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience caring for children or adults, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Willingness to undertake First Aid training.
  • Flexibility to work across different routes and vehicle types.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour with patience and professionalism.
  • Enhanced DBS check (Children & Adults) required.
