Clinical Nurse Specialist Safeguarding Children

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established safeguarding team within the Trust. The post holder will be a fundamental part of the children safeguarding team and work closely with the Trust leads to ensure that optimal standards of care are maintained and that the safeguarding of children remains at the heart of practice. Working with teams across the organisation you will be responsible for providing knowledge and expertise in all aspects of safeguarding children in the acute setting. The post holder will provide clinical support and guidance to staff within the hospital setting: this will include supporting staff in formulating appropriate, quality referrals to social care; case management and supervision. There will be opportunities for development and working across a wide range of clincial areas. There are opportunities for the development of specialist areas of interest within the speciality.

The successful applicant will have a relevant pediatric qualification, and relevant knowledge and experience of child protection work from the health perspective. Operational experience of managing safeguarding cases from an acute perspective is a necessity. The post holder will be required to demonstrate an enquiring mind, critical thinking and analytical skills to enhance decision making in relation to the protection of vulnerable children. You will be required to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to work effectively and respond appropriately in challenging circumstances.
