IEM EMA Integration Engineer - Vehicle Efficiency (Contract)

📍 Gaydon | ⏳ Contract | 🏠 Hybrid Working

We are supporting a leading automotive OEM in the search for an IEM EMA Integration Engineer to join their Vehicle Architecture function, working within an established Agile operating model.

This is a key role focused on the Vehicle Efficiency attribute, combining strategic target setting, technical analysis, cross‑functional integration and governance across vehicle programmes.

The Role

Reporting to the Vehicle Architecture Efficiency Product Owner, you will play a central role in defining, validating and governing vehicle efficiency targets, ensuring alignment between legislative requirements, customer expectations, energy systems and programme delivery constraints.

You'll work across multiple stakeholders, including energy node owners, tools and methods teams, and wider programme functions, influencing decisions that directly impact vehicle efficiency, range and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead strategic target setting for the Vehicle Efficiency attribute
Competitive benchmarking and positioning
Fleet compliance and legislative requirement assessment
Customer feedback and real‑world data analysis
Coordinate and contribute to virtual verification and efficiency data analysis
Assess and negotiate target compatibility between Vehicle Efficiency and energy node owners
Collaborate with energy node owners to influence and define technology roadmaps aligned to efficiency and customer trends
Support robust Vehicle Efficiency governance across vehicle programmes, identifying risks and opportunities early
Ensure efficiency and energy node assumption data is robust, traceable and accessible to key stakeholders
Work with tools and methods teams to align attribute development requirements with programme objectives
Contribute to wider tools and methods development projects, where programme delivery allows
Undertake additional tasks as required to support the wider Vehicle Architecture team

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong technical engineering background with a methodical, structured problem‑solving approach
Experience in vehicle attribute and/or vehicle systems delivery
Knowledge of vehicle efficiency legislation, homologation and certification processes
Technical understanding of how vehicle energy nodes (road load, propulsion efficiency, electrical loads, etc.) impact vehicle‑level efficiency and driving range
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex data, risks and recommendations clearly using visualisations and insights
Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex technical topics for a wide range of stakeholders
Self‑motivated, autonomous engineer comfortable working within an Agile framework
Highly organised, with good attention to technical administration and data governance

Education & Background

Degree‑educated (ideally Mechanical or Systems Engineering)
Significant relevant industrial experience in automotive or related sectors

Working Arrangement

Hybrid working available
Minimum 2 days per week on‑site in Gaydon (with flexibility depending on business needs)
