Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a primary school in Bournville for the position of a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time position required to start as soon as possible (ASAP).

Job Specification:

The successful candidate will be a qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant with proven experience in supporting children with a range of SEND within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

Qualifications:
Mandatory: Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a similar relevant qualification.
Experience:
Essential experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a UK primary school setting. This is a mandatory requirement.
Experience working with children with a variety of needs (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)).
Experience in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or support plans.
Skills and Knowledge:
Understanding of different SEND conditions and effective strategies for supporting children with these needs.
Ability to build positive and supportive relationships with children, fostering their independence and confidence.
Skill in adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
Ability to work effectively under the direction of the class teacher and/or SENDCo.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures within a school setting.
Support and Intervention:
Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEND, both within the classroom and in separate intervention sessions.
Assist pupils with their academic learning, providing clarification and encouragement.
Support pupils with social and emotional development, promoting positive interactions and behaviour.
Assist with personal care needs where required (depending on the specific needs of the pupils).
Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment for all pupils.
