This is a unique opportunity to develop your teaching and leadership skills in a supportive secondary school environment. You will be responsible not only for planning and delivering engaging Physics lessons but also for supporting the Science Department in curriculum development, mentoring less experienced staff, and playing a key role in driving academic outcomes in Physics.

This role is perfect for an aspiring leader who is looking to grow into a subject lead role while still early in their career, with support from senior staff and ongoing CPD.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated Physics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 optional but not essential).

Inspire students with a passion for Physics, using creative and practical approaches to bring the subject to life.

Take a lead in shaping the Physics curriculum, developing schemes of work and contributing to departmental planning.

Mentor and support ECTs or less experienced colleagues in Science where required.

Monitor pupil progress, set high expectations, and implement interventions to ensure outstanding outcomes.

Promote a culture of high standards, engagement, and inclusivity within your classroom and across the department.

Collaborate with the wider Science team and take part in whole-school initiatives and events.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

Qualifications: Degree in Physics or a closely related subject, and UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).

Experience: At least one year of experience teaching in a UK secondary school (including ECT placements).

Skills: Strong classroom management, passion for subject leadership, and the ability to inspire and engage.

Knowledge: Familiarity with current curriculum standards, safeguarding policies, and inclusive teaching strategies.

Desirable for Higher Pay Bracket:

Experience teaching Physics to GCSE and ideally A-level.

Evidence of outstanding pupil progress or value-added performance.

Leadership responsibilities such as department support, curriculum development, or staff mentoring.

Additional CPD, subject leadership training, or postgraduate qualifications in education or Physics.
