This is a rare opportunity to join my client, a highly-respected, innovative Multidisciplinary Consultancy looking to broaden their geographical reach as they establish a new office location in Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to a wide range of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are currently on the lookout for a driven, confident Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver a number of challenging projects. You will have a hand in building and leading a newly-established team of design professionals, based near the vibrant, richly-cultural city of Glasgow.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

Delivering a number of exciting engineering projects
Overseeing the day-to-day running of engineering projects, including budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and successful delivery
Providing mentorship and support to colleagues throughout their careers, overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Managing important working relationships with clients and other stakeholders, across the public and private sectors
Preparing, checking, and submitting technical documents, including reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, method statements, etc.
Enforcing company policies, procedures, and best practice at all times
Upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times
Contributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a company representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.

Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering
Possess Chartered Status with a relevant, recognised Professional Body
Extensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK-based consultancy (or Local Authority)
Demonstrable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy-based projects
Experience of earthworks design and drainage network modelling
Proficient in the use of various software packages (Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and others)
Considerable experience of writing, checking, and amending a variety of reports for submission
Prior experience of leading both projects and people within the sector
Experience of managing client and stakeholder relations
Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

- A Master's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering (or similar, relevant discipline)

- Experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments

- Experience of preparing Transport Assessments

- Experience of working in a public-facing role
