Transport Manager – Huddersfield – £60,000 + Benefits

Elevation Recruitment Group are proud to be partnering with a leading manufacturing business in West Yorkshire who are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead and develop their transport operations.

You will take full responsibility for Operator’s Licence compliance, fleet management, driver development, and transport cost control, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of goods across the business.

Duties:Maintain full compliance with U.K. Operator’s Licence regulations, ensuring all statutory and legal obligations are met.Oversee the management and maintenance scheduling of the company fleet, ensuring vehicle safety and roadworthiness.Lead tachograph analysis, Working Time Directive monitoring, and driver compliance activities.Develop and implement structured driver training and development programmes.Plan and schedule transport activities to meet production demands and customer delivery requirements.Monitor and control transport costs including fuel usage, servicing, repairs, and insurance.Investigate accidents, incidents, and compliance breaches, implementing corrective actions.Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, enforcement agencies, and external partners.Lead, coach, and develop the transport team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Support the wider manufacturing and supply chain functions with effective logistics solutions.

Required Skills & Experience:CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Road Haulage – essential.Proven experience managing transport operations within a manufacturing or logistics environment.Strong knowledge of U.K. Operator’s Licence compliance and transport legislation.Experience in fleet management and vehicle maintenance planning.Strong leadership and people management capability.Experience using transport management systems and tachograph analysis software.Commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data and implement cost-saving improvements.Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
