SEN Teaching Assistant - Birmingham / Solihull (January Start, Full-Time)

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant seeking a rewarding role in the Birmingham and Solihull area? We are recruiting for a full-time position starting this January in a dedicated Primary SEN Unit, supporting pupils with a wide range of needs in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

About the Role

This is a full-time role working in a specialist SEN classroom where learning is continuous throughout the day. You will be supporting pupils with:

* Autism (ASC)

* ADHD

* Behavioural needs

* Physically challenging behaviour

* Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

* Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

* Communication needs, including the use of Makaton

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored interventions, manage behaviour positively, and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with diverse SEN needs.

* Use strategies such as Makaton, visual aids, and assistive technology to enhance communication.

* Support behaviour management using proactive, positive approaches.

* Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and promote inclusion.

* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and families to track progress and share strategies.

* Encourage independence, confidence, and emotional regulation in pupils.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

* Proven experience working with pupils in a UK Primary or SEN school.

* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

* A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.

* Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and adapting to individual learning profiles.

* Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
