I have a FANTASTIC opportunity for an EXPERIENCED and COMMITTED individual to become a Senior Children's Support Worker within a BRAND NEW children's residential service in Chudleigh Knighton, Newton Abbot.

**Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full driver's licence and a car**

You will be supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 years old with learning/physical disabilities, complex health needs, autism and challenging behaviours.

Overview:

  • Job Title: Senior Children's Support Worker
  • Salary: £31,200 - £33,600
  • Location: Chudleigh Knighton, Newton Abbot (TQ13 postcode)
  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent
  • Shift Pattern: 5 days a week, minimum 1 sleep per week.
  • Hours 40 hours a week including weekends (7am - 3pm / 2pm - 10pm)

The role:

  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age
  • To support the manager and team in all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including managing staff teams, and budgets and ensuring that the quality of the services provided meets expected care standards
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Support the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being
  • Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, and professionals involved in the young people's lives
  • Organise and participate in activities and holidays, ensuring risk assessments have been followed

The successful candidate:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker or Team Leader within a similar social care setting or with Young People ESSENTIAL
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People or equivalent ESSENTIAL
  • Hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence, due to the nature of the role you may be required to transport the young people ESSENTIAL
  • Childrens Homes Regulations and Safeguarding Knowledge ESSENTIAL
