Our Operations Team, amongst other things, is responsible for delivering an effective waste collection service to both residents and businesses across the district.

We have an opportunity for someone who values the environment, who enjoys physical activity and the opportunity to work outdoors, to join our team and contribute to delivering an excellent service to our customers.

  • Your role will support the waste and other associated services by delivering new and replacement bins, collecting Waste Electrical and Electronic Eqipment (WEEE) across the district, repairing bins and collecting and returning any damaged and unwanted bins to the depot.
  • You will maintain the flow of bins through the depot, ensuring they are cleaned and reused, or disposed of as appropriate.
  • As a driver, you will be fully responsible for your designated vehicle, and will need to undertake driver checks at the start and end of each shift, reporting any faults to the workshop.

You must have: a full Cat B (Car) licence with less than 6 penalty points, together with the ability to undertake repetitive manual lifting and moving tasks i.e. the emptying of waste bins and collection of bulky waste items. You will also need to ensure that safety and best practice is maintained at all times.

The role will require some flexibility in terms of working early mornings/late afternoons and some weekends where required, particularly following a bank holiday of a period of inclement weather for example.

You will be operating in a safety critical role where your safety is paramount, the Council has a zero-tolerance policy to taking illegal substances. This role will be subject to random Drugs and Alcohol testing.

The role is based upon a Fixed Term Contract running to end of March 2028.
