HR Director/Safety Coordinator

Stephenville, Texas

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

$55,000 - $65,000 Annually or DOE

Seeking a HR Director/Safety Coordinator in Stephenville to manage all areas related to compliance and performance. Benefits, paid vacation and paid holidays!

  • Supporting and coordinating safety awareness programs; ensuring proper reporting of work related accidents
  • First aid for minor accidents & filing Worker’s Compensation claims with insurance company
  • Coordinating and/or conducting all safety training, including physical aspects such as proper bending, lifting and stretching procedures, as well as any related follow-up necessary to maintain compliance in these areas
  • Implementation of the Company Safety Manual, safety procedures, checklist and audits; and working in a production/service/warehouse environment to ensure safety compliance among all affected workers
  • Assist with the physical duties of those positions in the warehouse, including lifting, carrying and proper demonstration of how the job should be safely performed, as well as continuous bending, twisting and stretching to move products throughout the various areas of the plant
  • Implement established safety/environmental programs for compliance to company and government regulations (OSHA)
  • Conduct plant safety inspections/observations 3 times a day to assure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
  • Facilitate corrections/improvements as identified for each employee and/or work area; facilitate training and follow through with training program
  • Work with employees to resolve safety issues and techniques
  • Work with maintenance department to ensure all equipment is up to OSHA standards & regulations
  • Maintain ladder inspection sheets
  • Maintain PPE inventory and work with Purchasing Department to re-stock as needed
  • Conduct & schedule new employee orientation and other safety related training for employees
  • Schedule Respirator Fit Mask testing twice a year
  • Maintain records of training, qualifications, certifications, etc., as they apply to the safety program (Safety, forklift, respirator, etc.)
  • Maintain all OSHA reports, including injury report logs, for calendar year and post as required
  • Maintain all MSDS, SDS, and secondary container label logs
  • Participate in the investigation, reporting of accidents/injuries, and documentation to Worker’s Compensation
  • Evaluate employee injuries for severity and determine medical needs
  • Schedule worker compensation appointments & follow through with injured employee and HR

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental or Risk Management, or equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Applicants currently pursuing a degree in the associated field will be considered
  • Safety compliance experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing industry for 2 years
  • Availability to start within two weeks after offer made/accepted
  • Must be energetic and passionate about influencing the safety culture
  • Considerable knowledge of all state and federal regulations relative to safety, health, environment, and worker’s compensation or ability to acquire quickly
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, & Outlook
  • Ability to speak effectively
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all employees throughout the plan
  • Preferred license: OSHA General Industry Safety and Health, OSHA 510, OSHA 30
