Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: BarnsleyContract: Full-time, Immediate Start

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a specialist primary setting in Barnsley.

This school recently received a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted (July 2024), with inspectors praising its calm, purposeful atmosphere and strong systems to ensure pupils make progress from their starting points. Staff are well-supported and committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

About the pupils:

• Children aged 5–11 with a range of needs, including SEMH and ASD.
• All pupils have an EHCP.
• The school uses a highly personalised curriculum and a multi-sensory approach to learning.
• Facilities include sensory rooms, calm corners, and breakout spaces to support emotional regulation and engagement.

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (essential).
• Ability to support pupils with communication and interaction needs, using tools such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables.
• A proactive, patient, and nurturing approach to help pupils achieve their full potential.
• Strong teamwork skills and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
