Our client is a well-established and highly regarded accountancy firm based in Lancaster, with over 80 years of heritage. As one of the largest independent firms in the region, they have built a strong reputation for quality service and long-standing client relationships. The firm operates from a single office, led by four experienced directors and supported by a dedicated team of 15 professionals, including accountants, payroll staff, and receptionists.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a respected and stable firm. The successful candidate will be involved in a range of duties including preparation of accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, and supporting audits. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and values working in a friendly and flexible environment.

Accounts Assistant Job Overview

Prepare SA100 personal tax returns
Draft limited company accounts for review under FRS 105 and occasionally FRS 102
Provide support on Academy Audits during the working day
Undertake bookkeeping tasks and prepare VAT returns
Use accounting software including Sage and Xero

Accounts Assistant Job Requirements

Previous experience in a similar role within practice is essential
Strong knowledge of FRS 105 and FRS 102 accounting standards
Proficiency with Sage and Xero
AAT qualified or working towards ACCA/ACA (study support available)
Ability to work independently and within a small team
Strong organisational and communication skills

Accounts Assistant Salary & Benefits

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
Flexible working: 37.5 hours per week with core hours between 10am and 4pm
Hybrid working: Primarily office-based, but remote work available on occasion

Holiday entitlement: 25 days + 8 bank holidays (including 3 days off at Christmas)
