SEN Support Worker- Starting September 2024

We are seeking multiple SEN Support Workers to work in a School based in Luton. This is a special needs school for students aged between 11 - 18 years old. The school caters for students with severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many students have additional complex needs including autisic spectrum disorder, epilepsy, physical or sensory impairments; some students have additional medical needs. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver a holistic approach to student development.
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using positive behaviours support strategies.
  • Support students with personal care tasks where necessary, ensuring their dignity and independence are maintained.
  • Facilitate the inclusion of students in classroom activities and school life.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with complex needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly within a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver a holistic approach to student development.
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors using positive behavior support strategies.
  • Support students with personal care tasks where necessary, ensuring their dignity and independence are maintained.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with complex needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work flexibly within a team.
  • Knowledge of SEN best practices and behavior management strategies.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or health and social care are desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
